Art Miami

We saved a biggie for last today ... and what a great ending! Art Miami - the longest running contemporary art fair - over 80 galleries from all over the world - 80,000 sq. ft. packed with art and people! First impression WOW! - the art is amazing, the crowd was vibrant and excited, the dealers and artists were talking and selling ... the quality seemed higher than in years past, although the fair itself was smaller. This is always one fair that is a real highlight - with art that one can actually afford or strive for.
In the Wynwood Arts District - NE 1st Ave., between NE 32 and NE 31 Street. - one day pass $15.

It is hard to choose favorites (just too many)... we saw a lot of the large faces created by mini faces ... ONE of our favorites Federico Uribe amazing wall sculptures made from various mediums

4+ hours to take it all in - don't miss out!!!

Red Dot

Red Dot Art Fair
December 1 - 6, 2009 in the Wynwood Art District - 3011 NE 1st Ave., $10 to enter

First impression here - BUSY - not with people but art was everywhere. It seemed like every booth brought 50 pieces and put all of them up at once! Lots of prints and production/decorative like works ... but there were some great gems in here too!!!

There was a great mix of sculptural as well as 2D works - prices to fit any budget. Emerging as well as well established.

At George Billis Gallery wonderful painting collages by Josh Dorman and another gallery had great sculptural glass by Alex Bernstein and it was amazing to find a wonderful collection of ceramics by Michael Lucero!

Give yourself and hour and a half - check it all out!
